Endolog: what is it and what advantages does it provide?

The Endolog device consists of an implant that is placed in the bone of the big toe to correct the deviation and stabilize the toe in its correct position.
The Endolog implant is a less invasive alternative to traditional surgery, as it is performed through a small incision in the skin and does not require bone removal.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Maintains Previous Recommendation for EXOGEN Ultrasound Bone Healing System

Bioventus has received notice from the United Kingdom's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) regarding the indication of EXOGEN for the treatment of nonunions of long bones.
EXOGEN uses Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) to stimulate the physiological process of bone healing and enhance fracture healing. It has a healing rate of 86% in nonunions and accelerates the healing of fresh fractures by 38%.

The Effects of Low Intensity Ultrasound on Fracture Healing in Diabetics

The Effects of Low Intensity Ultrasound on Fracture Healing in Diabetics

This study compares femoral diaphyseal fracture consolidation between a group of healthy rats (n=15), a group of rats with Diabetes Mellitus (n=15) and a group of rats with Diabetes Mellitus treated with LIPUS low-frequency ultrasound. intensity (n=15).
The following parameters were taken: PCR and ELISA for the measurement of growth factors, Histomorphometry to evaluate the formation of cartilage and Immunohistochemistry to show the neovascularization of the fracture site.

Risk Factors for Pseudarthrosis in Patients with Intracapsular Femoral Neck Fractures with Three Cannulated Screws Positioned in Triangular or Inverted Triangular Configuration.

Risk Factors for Pseudarthrosis in Patients with Intracapsular Femoral Neck Fractures with Three Cannulated Screws Positioned in Triangular or Inverted Triangular Configuration.

Femoral neck fractures are associated with a high rate of nonunion. In this study, the risk factors that influence the progression to nonunion in patients treated with parallel cannulated screws positioned in a triangular configuration (one proximal + two distal) or inverted triangle (two proximal + one distal) are evaluated.

Periprosthetic fractures associated with osseointegration are infrequent and family managed.

Periprosthetic fractures associated with osseointegration are infrequent and family managed.

In patients with lower extremity amputation, osseointegration allows better mobility than conventional socket prostheses and few cases of periprosthetic fractures have been found.

Of the 518 osseointegration interventions performed between 2010 and 2018, 22 presented periprosthetic fractures (4.2%) and removal of the implant was not necessary in any case. It was found that the majority of fractures occurred due to a fall and that 86% occurred within 2 cm of the proximal tip of the implant.
